This Twitter Tuesday is finally the last! I truly got the most out of looking at my peers’ tweets (but especially quotes) they shared in the #WhatILearnedinWR60 tag. Some of them shared quotes from research articles they analyzed, while others reminded me of past assignments, like the Bird Brain video we watched for this class, and how the corvids were solving puzzles. Some of the quotes that really stuck with me and that I shared were from our assignment on veganism and vegetarianism stances. I was also able to share a couple of excerpts from my research on my advocacy project, even if just to leave a little something with my twitter followers.
One account I recently followed was one that I found by looking through the following of @/EconUS and eventually fiinding @/fedfragapane. Federica Fragapane is an information designer based in Italy, and she makes visual representations of important data. One example I found of this was her analysis on 20219 European Parliament elections and the turnout rates amongst voters for both men and women.I am currently an economics major, but I have a plan to pursue a career in art, and finding Federica’s account is a helpful reminder to me that there are artists working in all sorts of fields, including politics and economics. While the data she makes representations for isn’t exactly the kind of work I would want to do myself, that fact might change. For the kind of artwork I do want to do, I do have a role model I have been following for quite some time. Their @ is @/liliuhms and she is an artist I really admire. She has created her own business, making artwork she loves for herself and garnered a great fanbase to sell her pieces to. She also makes wearables and accessories that really appeal to a wide audience. I have in fact, met @/liliuhms in person at a convention, where I bought a couple items at her booth (including some very cute socks).and got to speak to her briefly about her work. I think I truly admire the make-it-yourself type of artists out there, and liliuhms is truly a great example of that. She’s collaborated with a Chinese-based clothing brand, designed her own wedding dress (along with custom invitations and wedding cake topper), and she seems to be really happy making the stuff she does. That’s exactly the kind of thing I would also like to do.
Thanks for the ride and happy birding,
Alicia OUT!
